Reading the Word

When I first decided to follow Jesus, I began a journey that seemed shrouded in a dense mist of opinions of my friends, the teachers, preachers, and strangers.  These opinions confused me and caused me to fail more often than not.  Yet through the entire precarious crawling into the full light of God, I began to see that when I devoted time each day to the Word I had a clearer path.  The more I read in the Word, the more I hungered to find out about Jesus.  I have read secular books about the life and times of Christ, books about others journey into the grace of God, and books about the meaning of the Bible; BUT the book that provided the most leadership and guidance continues to be the 66 books of the BIBLE - in this library I find prediction of the future, assurance for the present, and an explanation of the past.  I find who I am and who God wants me to be.

By reading the Word of God and studying how God works, I have found safety and security in a world full of chaos and hatred.  I have found in Jesus the perfect pattern for reacting to how others treat me and how to behave so that God shines through me.

Building a relationship with God requires honest effort and desire on my part.  So I continue to reach for the precious hands of God by READING His Word.

MAKE THE EFFORT - READ THE BIBLE.

Those who hope (trust, depend on, believe) in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,  they will will walk and not be faint. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight.(Proverbs 3:5-6) Blessed be the name of the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord always.

Where have you been?

Have you asked that question of friends, family, classmates, the doctor, the minister, or maybe a complete stranger? BUT have you bothered to ask "Where have you been?" of your relationship with the Most High Triune Lord God?  The Creator of the Universe wants to have a living relationship with you in a one to one time of communication.  In the old song, we are reminded that God is waiting for us to actually speak to him as a person speaks to other humans.  June Deniece William s and Miles C. Austin write:                                     I come to the garden alone while the dew is still on the roses,                                     and the voice I hear falling on my ear,                                 ...
